March 31 – April 4 Community Service Professions

Students received a new text, Prison Nation, on Friday. They identified a topic they were interested in and each took an article to read from the book over Spring break. Students identify three main ideas from the article that should be shared with the rest of the class, and bring those to class on Tuesday.

Students will work in groups on Tuesday to write scripts for their powerpoint presentation. They need to bring ideas from their articles for:

• Why is this a serious problem?

• Examples showing how serious it is.

• How extensive is this problem?

• Data showing who it affects – inside and outside of prison.

• What could/should be done to address this problem?
