CPA Event Calendar — Spring Semester 2010

We could not get a bus for rescheduled field trip to Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk. We had to cancel the 17th due to rain, and the district said we could reschedule but only on a school day. There were no buses available, either through the district or through outside vendors for the day we tried to change it to, Friday, May 28. At this point in the semester, we cannot put the trip later as it will run into finals prep and many students will not be able to attend without it impacting their studies. Therefore we have had to cancel. Instead we will purchase movie theater tickets for the students and pass them out as a reward for their efforts in coming to all the tests. We really want to show our appreciation by giving students the ability to go do something fun.

CP Academy needs help during finals week! On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we will be cleaning up and putting away our classroom computers. We need volunteers from 2:00 to 5:00 each of those days to help us out. On each of those days we will also be distributing snacks at the end of the first final. We need help between 10:00 and10:30 each day to count out snacks and deliver them to the classrooms. CP Academy has an after-school computer lab open every day of the week in H203 for students who need access to a computer or a tutor to get their homework done. To encourage students to make use of this resource, many CP Academy teachers will give extra credit to students who come with their homework completed and a chit from the after-school tutor. Monday through Friday, students who need computer access, a quiet place to do homework, or tutorial assistance are welcome in H203 after school.

Seniors working on the FAFSA or scholarship applications are encouraged to make appointments with the Destination College tutors during 6th period as well as after school in H203. Destination College tutors will have sign-up sheets in the 6th period BEST classes.

Final Exam Schedule
Wednesday, 1/27/10, period 1, 8:30 am to 10:30 am, and period 2, 10:40 am to 12:40 pm
Thursday, 1/28/10, period 3,8:30 am to 10:30 am, and period 4, 10:40 am to 12:40 pm
Friday, 1/29/10, period 5, 8:30 am to 10:30 am, and period 6, 10:40 am to 12:40 pm
Most students will leave school following their second exam of the day. In the afternoon most teachers will be available to answer questions and some teachers will hold special prep for coming exams. Monday, Feb. 1 is a school holiday for everyone. Tuesday, Feb. 2 is a regular day for all 9th, 11th, and 12th graders. All 10th graders will report to school at 7:30 for the First day of the Exit Exam.
