Student Life
Life at cpa from the perspective of a student:
Questions answered by cpa students during a class presentation given by two seniors and two sophomores.
If you could go back in time would you still choose to be in the cpa small school?
Honestly if I didn't like cpa from the beginning I would have gotten out at the start.
I valued the information I received from the teachers at cpa and that helped contribute to me in the first place.
Is cpa harder or easier than the big school?
In cpa you receive the same amount of work as the large school but at the same time you get more one on one time with your
teachers. Because we have core classes both teachers know what the others are doing. In the big school every teacher has
his/her own agenda for you. one week you may have many assignments to do for many different teachers this can result in
running out of time and having to pick what class you are willing to miss an assignment for. In cpa the teachers talk with
each-other so the work is spread out more evenly instead of having a lot of work one week and then the next barely having any.
What are the things in cpa that you think need improvement?
When we are in cpa we are so sheltered. I feel that we will be dependant when you leave school, I think that is a fear for most
cpa seniors. It would be nice if our senior year the teachers would stop reminding us about everything so we can see how we
will do without the constant pressure of a teacher caring about us. In college our professors are not going to be reminding us
about our assignments. We have to learn how to manage ourselves.
If or when you had problems with your teachers, what did you do?
I know I had problems with several teachers my sophomore year, I talked to Ms. Russ. She would either talk to the teacher,
try to get you into another class, tell you to bear it for a little longer until next semester, try to get you tutoring outside the
class, or have a conference with Ms. Russ, the teacher you and your parents.
